Campaigns. It is important that I continue to know the strength of feeling on an issue and I prefer to respond to every inquiry, but the sheer size of campaign correspondence means that it is hard to justify to the tax payer the cost and time taken for individual written replies, so regrettably I will no longer reply to every item of campaign correspondence.  I will  post a response to the campaign on the "Responses to campaigns" page of my website.

I am sorry to do this, as it is rather impersonal, but can see no other way of maintaining a good service for all my constituents unless I approach campaigns this way.

Cystic Fibrosis

Thank you for taking the time to contact me about Cystic Fibrosis (CF) drugs.

I understand your concern about sufferers being able to access life changing medicines and it is dreadful that families who could benefit are still waiting for access to medicines like Orkambi.

I have been trying to bring all sides together in the long running dispute about the cost of these drugs. There are mechanisms that could and should be used to reach an interim agreement and these were explored at the Health and Social Care Committee inquiry on this topic.

The Secretary of State for Health now needs to step in as set out in my letter following the Select Committee hearing.:
