It was great to meet with so many farmers from across South Devon to talk about the immense challenges facing family run farms. The problems with bovine TB continue to cause devastation and despair with many farmers having to repeatedly cull their herds despite strict bio security measures. I also heard about the problems with ear tagging for sheep, the problems in attracting young people due to the long and tough working conditions and low payments from supermarkets. We also discussed the impact of global food pricing, food security and of course enjoyed a gently cooling pasty!
